That's right folks, the 280(Non X) is now $250. This card is just a rebrand of the 7950 but should still be faster that its main competitor, the GTX 760. Bravo AMD, bravo. Wait a couple of days before buying, since it can take a while for retailers and manufacturers to update prices.

Edit: You also get a gold tier coupon for their never settle bundle. Three free games guys!

Saphire X version is up on newegg now, so grab them up if you want before bitcoin miners do!

Edit 2. Newegg has a special promotion going on. Basicly, a R9 280 for $200 when you add to cart and apply a special coupon code found on the page. For more info, go to the quoted comment above or to the anandtech link. Grab them if you want one before the miners do.

Nice, I guess it will be the conscious gamer card of choice for a while at least, but something tells me Nvidia will launch an 860 based on Maxwell soon enough which will bring down the price of the 760 and also outperform the 280x

unlikely in the next couple of months, the only maxwell card released so far is unable to keep up with competing AMD cards, with it's only selling point being low power consumption.

The Litecoins craze seems over or they have enough stock for those cards. All the R9 290's are at MSRP with a few selling for lower (some R9 290s are even going for $360 new on newegg). This is a good price for this card and that bundle, if you are in the market for a good card that performs well at 1080p you cant go wrong with the 280.

aaand all the nvidia fanboys will still claim that amd is more expensive...wheras for the other 95% of the world amd makes affordable gaming possible and keeps people out of the console gutter wheras the "green team" sleep on beds of green cash next too thier re-rereleased $800 titans, titan blacks, 780's,780ti's, gtx690's, titan z's etc while thier customers lost in the "premium product" apple-esq illusion are gaming at night wondering when g-sync,  dx12 and shadowplay(beta) will actually be released.

bought an (probably) ex miner msi gaming 270 still in warrenty for pennies (thanks miners!) Ive had to rma it for now but will get another soon no douibt. might get an r9-290 though, £200 for a 290 vs £220 fora new r9-280x or  £300 for a 770..hard choice

Haven't been in AMD land for ever. What does AMD users use to replace Shadowplay? Also do AMD cards work for Adobe AE Pro encoding and effects accelleration?
