What are the gaming monitors in general?

I’m in search for a good gaming monitor in general, not too picky on the specs although I just want to see prices and specs of a good gaming monitor I could pick up.

I cant recommend one or even a couple because they are all subjective.  But I can give some tips to help pick/narrow it down.

1.   Rule 1, set a budget.  No sense in getting hopes up for something then getting upset about price.
2. Set expectation for specs, what I mean by this is if you set a $200 USD cap and expect 4K, you will probably not be happy with it cause it will be a bad 4K or you just wont find one.
3. I think the sweet spot for gaming right now is 1440p and 144Htz, if your computer supports it.
4. From there just find 2 or 3 and watch reviews and comparisons.  you should find something

First determine what you want from your monitor, the variety of monitors are too great for you to just pick up a "good" monitor. And without a budget, anyone could just recommend you literally the best monitors that are very expensive.

1. Determine what your planned/current build is capable of, for example, getting a 4K 144hz monitor when your PC could barely do 1440p 144fps is very unwise.

2. Determine what you want based on your build's capability and your preferred situation, for example, resolution, screen size, refresh rate, color performance, brightness, viewing angle.

3. Set a budget, notice that I put budget on third, because you should not cheap out on a gaming monitor, it will outlast anything you have on your PC, and the quality of your monitor directly contribute to the experience you're going to have while gaming.

 

After you know what you want and could do, look for reviews that match your requirements.

set a budget, determine the resolution/refresh rate you want based on ur pc spec, pick a monitor.

Really any that's 120Hz+ and is decent panel. So many good and cheap nowdays in 1440p 144Hz+ range.

Yeah, GPU model includes panel type also...

depending what's the purpose, either TN or IPS are the best, in these times even more the latter. Though Samsung VA monitors are also in the top.

Yeah, it's fading, yet there are some DyAc monitors like Benq XL2566K still out there to contest the reign of IPS.

 Gaming monitor is just a high refresh rate monitor, you would judge the rest of its aspect exactly like when you're purchasing any other display but when in doubt, go for 144hz+ 27 inches IPS. It's generally the sweet spot for your money when considered panel resolution, response time and viewing angles.

 

No displays are perfect, they all have compromises in one way or another. The rule of the game is to minimise the more noticeable ones, in which case viewing angle, size and resolution is generally the basic that matters. You would consider some of the more fancy aspect like top level colour gamut coverage, HDR, ultra high refresh rate, HDMI 2.1 and text clarity as you've moved through the price ladder

In this case, I suggest go for 1440p as the budget cannot get good 4K monitor.

Resolution and framerate aren't the only factors.  The panel and color accuracy can matter too.  RTings has reviews on specifics. 

 

If you go with HDR, you want a display with a high brightness (nits) and 10-bit color depth (most displays have only 8 bit).
