FINALLY finished my Hardline Water-Cooled Corsair 1000D build ! !

theRatty

After a completely dead cpu and motherboard left me searching for the problem I have finally discovered what caused them to die in the first place. A pci-e expander card for usb c appears to have let out the blue smoke killing the system. A burnt patch on a chip on the card and a crunching noise when applying pressure gave it away. I replaced the taichi x570 with a carbon copy and went from the 5900x to the 5800x3D. Specs are 32gb ram. 3080 fe, 5800x3d, x570 taichi, corsair 1000D, four radiators 2X480 and 2X360s at about 60 mm thickness. No bends as per the intended style with tons of black fittings and ek black and silver blocks to match the aesthetic. PXL_20230629_004041812.jpg.eda8b3a8752a84f0e512e4a7aeaa643f.jpg

The somewhat finished build. Part of my GPU strimer cable died so rip to that but I might not replace it for a while and just run the lights off.

This cheapo card from Amazon that I was recommended by users here to buy which blew up without me realizing it and killed my cpu and motherboard. Oh well.

Pretty insane how many cables are needed for such a build. Now Imagine if I had another eight fans in push-pull for the front two radiators. I might add those in the future and I cant imagine another 16 cables to fit back there much less manage.

I test this iffy tubing run with the ek leak tester flex.

The Ek waterblock goes onto the 3080 fe. We have reached the point of no turning back. The board looks absolutely beautiful.

Step one below, running my system on air and slowly accumulating the resources for the build. The radiator tray is seen here being tested.

Another couple of things to note. The two 140 mm fans as intake really didn't want to fit into this case. Odd as this case is made by corsair as are the fans and the case claims to support two 140mm fans in that position. Either way, I was forced to take 80 grit paper and a random orbit sander to the fans to shave off a half mm on either side of both fans to decrease the overall height by 2 mm. Even in this state they barely fit but any deeper sanding would have ruined the acrylic rgb housing.
