I have 16gb 3600mhz RAM, Asus PRIME B550-PLUS motherboard and 800W CoolerMaster 80 Gold. CPU is R5 5600x and GPU is RX 5700XT.

1st - you need more RAM.

2nd - the 5700X or 5800X is not a decent upgrade over the 5600X, at least not for gaming.

3rd - the 5700XT is about equivalent to a 6600XT or a 6700 non-XT or an nVidia RTX 2070 Super, going with a 3070 is no upgrade.

4th - The 5600X/5700X/5800X paired with a 6800 would perform like a 5800X3D with a 3070 because the nVidia cards require a more robust CPU to drive them properly.

5th - You haven't mentioned your use resolution. If it's 1080p, get the 5800X3D in any case, but don't upgrade the GPU over a 6700XT, 6750XT, or 6800. Don't get an Nvidia because anything that would be noticeably (nicely) stronger than the 5700XT would be bottlenecked even with the 5800X3D. If the resolution is 1440p, you have more options. Like a 6950XT or 6800XT, without upgrading the CPU, you'd get a nice boost in a couple of years when you upgrade the platform. Or get the 5800X3D and pair it with an RX 6800...

Hello, I'm planning to upgrade both my CPU and GPU. I need help because I'm considering two options at this time: Ryzen 7 5800x3D+RTX 3070 or Ryzen 7 5800x+RX 6800.

I am wondering which one of these upgrades will get me the most FPS, they're about the same budget. I know the 3D v-cache is king in gaming, but I've seen benchmarks where it is about 15% faster than the 5800x with the same GPU. But I wanna know if the 5800x w/ RX 6800 would perform better than 5800x3D w/ RTX 3070.

I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment, thanks for the help in advance!

Technically AMD gets you the better FPS. NVIDIA is better for stability and longevity, while also getting you great FPS.

Whats your full spec? 5800X3D can be brutal to the board VRM.

Thanks a lot, I know AMD also gets better with time and there are also a community for custom drivers and such. Thanks so much for the help.
