Best Basic Free Video Editor

I'm looking for a basic video editor because I want to edit some clips and make a film about my new rig.  I've got music and all, but I want a video editor to put together the clips and stuff.

 

I dont have any money to spend on a video editor, it just needs to be basic.  I was going to get Windows movie maker but I was wondering if there are some better free or open source ones you know of.

You could do a couple of things, spend $20/mo and use Premier PRO, use a VM and run Openshot or KDNLive, get a mac and FinalCut(I like it anyway...), or you could use lightworks.
