Hi from New Zealand

 

Longtime geek, starting with an Atari 2600, then Commodore Amiga (my fav computer of all time) before moving into the weird world of Windows.

 

Work in IT, live IT, breathe IT. Wife wishes first thing only. Does not understand why I need to have network and a PC in every room :D

 

Have a i5-6500 box as a home server with 8TB storage just using Win10, primary desktop is ancient (but still runs damn well) i5-3470S system.

 

Gigabit fibre (started off at 14.4k and now this....)

 

Ran a BBS back in the day on my Amiga, lots of fun and made some good friends.

 

I game, on PC, Xbox One, and emulators (using Batocera on an old HP).

 

Outside of geeking....

I burn stuff on the BBQ.

I drink socially like a fish.

I like fast cars (Nissan Skylines top of the list)

Amateur photographer.

Father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend.

 

If like to know anything else feel free to ask (even if its just about NZ and not me..... why not me ????)

One of these days I want to make it back and stay a night in Mueller Hut, but avalanche conditions were too dangerous when I was on the South Island years ago. Still can't believe I could hike through a rain forest to get on a glacier though (namely, Fox Glacier).

I'm actually about 40mins North of the CBD on Whangaparaoa Peninsula.

I did Mueller Hut the first time I was in NZ. It's beautiful.

I got out of Auckland when I was 2 and moved to the South Island..... a very, very long time ago.

Been to South Island a few times, but never really got a good look around. Best was a 2 week sales trip I went on, flew into Invercargill, drove all the way round to Greymouth. But we had to stop and see customers all the way round... so no time to really take things in.
