Will Noctua NH-D15 fit the HP omen GT13-0005no?

Hello everyone,

 

My friend has a Hp omen GT13-0005no and he wants to upgrade the cooler for better temperatures. I was wondering if the Noctua NH-D15 will be a good choice and if it will fit width wise and if it will interfere with the RAM slots? Another option I was looking at was the NH-U12A.

I doubt it.

 

That case is 16.51cm wide but the NH-D15 is 16.5cm tall.

I might be experienced, but I'm human and I do make mistakes. Expand for common PC building advice, a short bio and a list of my components and other tech. I edit my messages after sending them alot, please refresh before posting your reply. Common build advice: 1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticably improve performance past 240mm.

PCs are one of my hobbies and I've built many PCs and performed upgrades on a few laptops (for myself, friends and family). How about the NH-U12A? It is 158 x 125 x 58 mm? Should be good for the height and RAM clearance?

There is no info how high cooler does that case can fit, so can't count on it.

If the case itself is 165mm wide, then probably even not NH-U12A (158mm) would fit..

Not to be rude but... why not take a measurement with a ruler on the machine first?

The measurements are there (picture attached), I believe NH-U12A should be fine "height-wise". The case is 165.1mm wide as it states and the height of NH-U12A is 158mm. I'm just wondering if it width of the cooler will interfere with the RAM slots as the motherboard size MicroATX 24cm x 24cm.

No, these measurements are for the outside of the case, you need measurements of the inside of the case that will be quite different.

I think 158 into 165.1 will be fine but you really should check properly. (No idea about ram clearance, noctua have a checker on their site you could try).

Lets not forget the NH-D15 and U12A are absurdly expensive for no reason. You get no better performance over a $40 PA120 so why spend the extra money, especially for a prebuilt Omen?

I'm not aware about the performance vs other coolers but if something cheaper can provide the same performance, then I will of course suggest him to buy that instead. Can you kindly provide a link to this "PA120" cooler?

Hello, Sorry for the late reply. The case depth from inside is about 15cm.
