What is your most Liked \ Disliked Z97 Board?

my rampage iv extreme didn't even cost that much...............................

Do you think an m power will have that "delid gaurd" thing? I may just delid and mount my block on the die, I'd imagine that's enough cooling to push over 1.5v for funsies

only the xpower ships with it as far as I know. I wanna run naked too. I dont feel alive until I hit 1.7-1.75V. Then I m really livin.

I did that on my 6 core, can anyone say 500 watt TDP? LOL

It wouldn't boot doe, I shall try someday again with boot voltage+ boot frequency

I think you can buy the dedid guard thingy on the internet for a few bucks soon, from the guys that buy the XPower and don't dedid (I know its stupid but I'm sure they exist).

Anyway, I'm planning to do a gaming built in a month or so with the devils canyon i7 and dual sapphire 290 tri-x, what do you guys think? Should I go with the Maximus VII hero (and go a red colortheme, red sleeving, red corsair AF fans etc?) or should I go with the Mpower and do a yellow built (yellow sleeving, yellow fan rings on the fans etc)?

i vote mpower!

the hero made my naughty list so i cant vote for that board, plus I think its overpriced. but hey bro the Hero has Keybot, we all need keybot! (jokes)

You think an m power max will be enough to push a 4790k/4770k to above 5 ghz?  I sort of want to go absolutely insane when I get it, since the chip is so cheap and the intel tuning plan is the best thing in existence :D

Although if the m power max doesn't come with that delid guard thing I may not, I really want to mount my block directly on the CPU and just literally murder it lol like 1.8v+ xD

Well :P I think I'll make a poll here somewhere on the forums what board to get :P, I'm a bit of a fanboy though, however the Hero might indeed be a bit overpriced however it is a really sexy board to imho... (with the rog emblem lighting up  ). But I'll wait what the prices here in the Netherlands are going to be... If the Mpower is like 40 euro's cheaper I know which of both its going to be :D

I'm not doing any extreme overclocking however, I'll just throw a 240mm AIO on there (probably h100i). Isn't that mpower not focused more on custom watercooling and ln2?

Oops I think I should go and prepare myself for the shitstorm of noctua fanboys incoming...

(That wasn't ment in a mean way :P But I just don't like the look of (regular) air coolers (and especially noctua's fans), but thats just personal preference I can understand why people like regular air coolers/noctua)

I just feel the mpower is more stable when pushing the core and uncore to there limits.

I have always had really good luck with the  mpower lineup, hence my recommendation :)

the intel tuining plan is not needed. delid your chip without physically damaging it. if it fails from overvoltage, just re adhere the ihs and let intel honor their 3 year warranty.

good luck getting a haswell i7 to 5.0GHz on water or air. these chips do exist but they are extremely rare:)

lets get naked! hook me up with the die guard!

I think the regular mpower will take any piece of silicone to its limit. max only if you want AC wifi.

I wanna watercool the VRM though, so I can fill up my 900D a bit more, it looks really empty, adding a few extra pieces of tubing may help that.

Surely I can push well over 1.6v on a low TDP chip with my custom loop, especially if it's mounted on a naked die?  I'd assume it'll hit 5 if I push enough voltage through the sucker.

Obv I won't be able to have it like that 24/7, but maybe for benches here and there ETC.

my i7 hits the wall at 4.9Ghz even if I blast it with 1.75V oh my.
