That and hasbro just fired 1000 employees. They lost (by the sounds of the survey results) 90% of their core audience, they lost both the narrative and the trust of their community, they lost who knows how much money in dndbeyond subscriptions and more importantly long term subscriptions who they previously could always rely on spending money, AND they were getting ridiculed on twitter by their biggest shareholder.

 

They probably crunched the numbers and realized that there would be no amount of profit they could gain from all this that would make up for all the damage they had and were continuing to take. It was a death sentence and they FINALLY realized it.
