Installing Linux Mint on my brand new Dell Inspiron 14 7420

I did turn off secure boot and Intel Platform Trust technology and Microsoft uefi CA in BIOS.

Which one is disabled fast boot? Minimal or thorough?

Secure Boot Mode, do i need set to deployed mode or audit mode?

Did I miss something? Mint supports secure boot. Is there a reason you want to disable it?

I would leave those settings as they are and install the os. If you want to know what they do then change one at a time and test to see how the os responds.

Thermal management, do i need to set to ultra performance

No unless you have your laptop connected to power all the time or dont care about battery life. Honestly, you dont need to change anything apart from disabling secure boot for some distros.

  • 1 year later...

I'm considering doing the same, did you have any luck with getting Linux installed on an Inspiron 14 7420?
