I personally don't get why people want such massive mouse pads, given that you can get mice with 8200-DPI laser sensors these days. Just turn up the DPI, people.

I like vinyl wrap for cars.

no thickness, less grip than soft mouse pads, but more grip than hard mousepads.

Will work for electronic components and parts

why would you buy a mouse with 8200dpi since you are not going to play higher then 1000 dpi?

I never said I have a mouse with 8200 DPI, but I can say that I feel comfortable using up to 3000 DPI.

Hard mouse pads feel scratchy to me--reminds me too much of nails on a chalkboard.

To anyone who uses hard pads--why? I really don't know why.

I just bought the Razer Goliathus Extended Speed version which I can fit two CoolerMaster trigger storms on no problem. Probably one of the biggest mouse mats you can buy. It only cost me £19.99 and it's rubber. I prefer rubber or wet suit feeling mouse pads like the Razer ones.

I like a hard pad, I found the cloth top ones get dirty too quickly.

I felt strange when I first use a hard mouse pad during my olden school days

I'm going to get this mouse pad as soon as my Filco comes. And the good news I received today, the retailer said that it's coming next week.

I used to prefer hard pads when I was a highsenser, as they provided me with more acurate aiming.

Now when moving the mouse half a meter for a 360, a soft pad is far better for me, the mouse glides a lot smoother on it.

The hard one I used to use was the steelseries 4HD or something like that.

The soft one i use now is actually not a mouse pad, but a pad that came with a cup stacking game my sister bought, but since she doesn't use that anymore I use it as a mousepad and it works better than i ever thought. It has a very smooth sort of neoprene-ish finish.

I own a rubber but I hate it! I wish i forked the extra money for a hard one. The cloth/rubber one I have stretched and is no longer flat on my desk anymore.

hard pad with a high dpi mouse. if you dont every time you put your hand on the mouse of just shift your weight the pointer will move as the foam underit expands and contracts with pressure.

low sensetivity then feel free to use a foam mouse but high dpi lazer mice dont work well in my experience on them.

Indeed, I do agree with this. Me myself is using 6000dpi here at 1000hz polling/report rate, EPP ticked. Another thing is that if you set the dpi lower you need to move the mouse more and I just learned that I'm a sensitive user when it comes to rubber  mouse pad because the mat will worn out easily when I drag across too much. Anyway, this is just my thoughts, reason some people uses large size scale mats is because it reduces the cherry mx blue clicks noise vibration on their desk and the sound will be slighly different compared to the ones without rubber mats underneath.

When playing counter-strike people set their DPI to 400 and have a very low sensitivity so they need big mouse mats.
