Sketchup is too damn slow

I have a fairly high end system (it was back in 2010) with an AMD Phenom X6 1055T @3.4GHZ , 8 Gigs of ram, watercooling and an HD 6970 2GB Sapphire.

For some reason, sketchup is almost unusable because it never responds and it's laggy. I have enabled graphics acceleration and nothing changed..

Does anyone know what the hell is going on?

You'd think that a corporation the size of google would have tested for AMD bugs. Well....

maybe it's just not very highly threaded? it runs fine on my laptop. i5-2450m, 8 gigs of ddr3-1333, HD-3000 graphics. even in 1080p, runs super smooth... same with my mom's desktop: i7-920, 9 gigs of 1333, and a gtx 260...

also, google sold sketchup to trimble, so google doesn't own it anymore

Yeah.

Google doesn't own sketch up anymore.

And it seems to work perfectly on my 3570K.

Yeah, I've got the same settings with you. but I also get lag spikes. Maybe it's just the project that I'm working on. It'a custom PC with many details...Anyways, I downloaded Sketchup 7 to see if that will work better.

yeah that might be the problem too many lines and too many textures

SU7 will be the same, i have been using it since 5 so its all about the model

too many 3rd party components i guess (coolers, video cards, etc)

only thing u can do is deactivate shadows,

view/lines/ deactivate profiles

and play with the basic face options

so u can have colors but no textures

until u finished modeling
