Stupid news article I read.  I thought they just got the price wrong at Walmart, seems they got a bit more than that wrong.  Either way, $329 is fantastic for a nice existing AM4 upgrade.

Yeah, and people will pay for that 20% more.  Always have, always will.  3080 vs 3090 is much more than $200 and less than 20%

 

Edit:  Yes, I completely understand what you mean and I think we both understand the mentality of a lot of money for a little more oomph.  It's just what it is. For most the 5600 is more than enough, 100% agree.

It's not 20% more 1440p performance, it's 0-20% more 1440p performance. There's a big difference between the two. If it were 20% more 1440p performance as you say, then every single game would present a 20% difference. But that's not the case. When it comes to 0-20% more 1440p performance, this means that some games will provide a 0% performance increase while others provide up to a 20% performance increase.

 

I'll give you 5 random examples...

 

1. Cyberpunk in 1440p ultra is around a 10% difference.

2. Assassins Creed Valhalla in 1440p ultra is around a 16% difference.

3. RDR2 in 1440p ultra is around a 10% difference.

4. Watch Dogs Legion is around a 20% difference.

5. Horizon Zero Dawn is around a 0% difference.

 

So again, what do you get from that extra $200 aside from 0-20% more 1440p performance? (you didn't answer this question)

2. Instead of around a 16% performance increase in AC Valhalla at 1440p ultra, it's a 48% performance increase.

3. Instead of around a 10% performance increase in RDR2 at 1440p ultra, it's a 36% performance increase.

4. Instead of around a 20% performance increase in Watch Dogs Legion at 1440p ultra, it's a 47% performance increase.

5. Instead of around a 0% performance increase in Horizon Zero Dawn at 1440p ultra, it's a 25% performance increase.

 

That's a 25-59% 1440p performance increase versus a measly 0-20% 1440p performance increase.
