Upgrading PC from Work station to Gaming

techkc

Budget (including currency): Willing to allocate an additional $500 to this build

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Want to do more gaming with it (currently the games I play most are ARMA 3, Halo Reach, and Minecraft), but still be able to do some very light 3D modeling or photo editing. I would like the ability to try some newer titles such as the planned ARMA 4 and Kerbal Space Program 2 once they are released.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

My current build is listed below (built in 2020) when I was using this system mainly for 3D modeling with light gaming in mind, and I kind of what to flip it the other way if possible with this system. I do plan to upgrade the fans as the ones already in the case are super loud, but that will not be included with this budget. Currently running dual monitors but might change to one 34 inch monitor at some point. For resolution and refresh rate, I would say medium to high settings at 60 fps.

Thank you for your help!

If your 3D modeling or photo editing software needs CUDA for rendering / acceleration you'll want to switch out the RX 6600 XT for an RTX 3060.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

What the fuck

OP, buy a 5600 and a better PSU, then wait a week for the 6600 XT to be $300 again

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
