is 6 cores will be useful in the next 3-5 years

E cores do not count.  I probably have slept with more supermodels than there are programs optimized to take advantage of E cores.

I'm just sayin', they're there.

And I stand by my original statement. As long as the cores are fast, 6 is enough. The 7600x results in games is great example.

Yup I was thinking of my 5600X when I said 6 was enough.

I'll admit I'm just making a guess here but 6 cores should be fine, depending on your streaming setup.

If using the same machine to play the game AND stream from it's probrably not going to be enough before long, that is if it's not being affected now.
If you are using 2 machines, one to play the game on and another used as your actual broadcast/stream-machine you won't notice it as much, if at all for a little while to come.

My entire setup for XOC streams/benching has 2 machines - The streamer works fine with a 6 core/12 thread chip (Ryzen 5 3600X) running Linux and OBS.
Of course this machine handles all the load for streaming - Anything else I'm doing with the other machine I'm doing my benching on doesn't impact the stream machine itself so that does help if the gaming machine has 6 cores itself.

Setup is very important here and relevant to the question I'd think.

And I'm just saying that their use isn't optimized yet.  Nor have we hit the point where you're really bottlenecking yourself with having only 6 P-cores.  I think we're barely at the point where we're really hitting the upper limit on 4 cores.

You don't know slow until you're using a dual-core on your work PC with 8 GB ram and Tanium is running in the background.

Four cores eight threads have to be pretty close to being at its limit now? My 3770K is old as fuck, and it feels like it. I run it at 4600MHz static with fast dual ranked ram. Its just a shadow of its former self now.

Modern hardware is insane. Love it.

Depends on how fast it is I guess and what workloads. Even mid-range gaming seems to be okay on a 12100.

6/12 cores is barely enough now with modern titles.  Not in that it will not run it will just have low 1% lows and stutter a lot more.
