What did Intel even get out of this deal? 5000 each for say 40 people is nuts.

and they hardly talk about the Intel stuff anyway.

i am really failing to see the benefit to intel here

40 CPU sales.  Marketing to millions of people.  Community goodwill.

After some quick searching, the "average" cost of reaching 100k viewers on youtube is ~$2k.

You figure each Extreme Upgrade reaches ~1.5 million, for 40 employees, Intel is reaching ~60 million viewers, so with the average number that'd be a ~ $1.2 million dollar investment form Intel.

Makes sense to me.

$5000x40 isn't even "pocket change" money for Intel. It's more like "do I want to bother to stoop to pick this coin up off the ground, it looks really dirty" money. It's way less than they would have to spend to reach a comparable audience with ads, as already mentioned, and even if the "plug" for Apple products is less overt, it's in content people are way more likely to actually pay attention to than a paid ad.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

I think all of r/SFFPC collectively died of cringe watching Linus install the AIO the wrong way. The radiator tubing should go TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE CASE. It should NOT be sandwiched between the riser PCB and the rear metal of the case. Nobody with two brain cells should be building in the beginner-friendly NR200 like this (facepalm-inducing screenshots from the video below)...

Matt, if you see this, please flip the AIO so the tubes from the radiator emerge from the front of case! I've attached a few pictures of a properly mounted AIO below, which any cursory Google search will show (image credit to Hardware Canucks, Techpowerup, and Reddit user u/mjastills):

I think Intel spent over a billion dollars on advertising and marketing.

2021 was approx 79 Billion dollars in revenue.  It's a very small part of their marketing budget.

It's the psychology. Imagine they have 40 Intel-powered PCs in all these families - The PCs are going to run fine.

The staff or at least their families (some of whom may be not as tech savvy) will be thinking Intel is stable and dependable. So the next time they upgrade will most likely be another Intel. When their friends ask them for recommendation, knowing their partners or family members are in LTT, they are going to say "Hey I have an Intel at home and it runs fine, seems like it's good"

It's the perception. Putting one of your product in every household is a great advantage, why do you think Amazon sells the Fire tablet at a loss (or game console for that matter)?

I might be stupid, I still don't get what was downgraded in this upgrade.

Linus didn't like the speaker he bought for his record player, said that his previous speakers were better. That's the only thing that was "downgraded" as far as I can tell. LTT tittles are pretty meaningless.

Intel gets a sponsored video every month. $5,000 for a sponsored video on a channel like LTT is not a lot.

The Intel Upgrade videos are also performing well on Youtube which benefits LTT, with most videos in the series having 2M+ views, some videos 5M+ views and Dennis' video having the most with 8.6M views. Seems to be a win for everybody.

I still don't understand why he's using a speaker under the record player when there's a much better set of speakers right there. Doesn't that transfer vibrations through the chassis? (Then again I also haven't found a sound bar I like better than my existing HiFi setup...)

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

this is really nothing compared to their entire marketing budget. I'm just wondering if they might pose graphic card limits once the arc series gets better

All of the LMG employees will have received their upgrades before that happens.

Putting the speaker under the turntable seems like the worst idea possible. Its not even recommended to keep the speakers on the same surface as the turntable due to vibration transfer. I cant imagine you would be able to play it very loud before you start getting skipping and distortion. But then again maybe it will never be played that loud and tbf it does look good

Now I have a weekend project! Is there any reason or just because it's easier on the routing? (Funny story, Dan and I did it that way in the test build, I just thought it could go either way since Linus did it backwards to what I suggested)
