High idle temperatures on a 360mm aio from corsair h150i rgb pro?

MultiGamerClub

Switched from my old coolermaster masterliquid 360r rgb to this corsair h150i rgb pro, but its performance is lacking..

Currently sitting at 40 to 50c on idle doing absolutely nothing while having spotify, discord and firefox open.. its at 48c and the fans are doing 70-80% on the ML120's.

My old coolermaster masterliquid 360r rgb was doing 26 to 30c idle and wouldnt give a shit what i did, only when i truly did heavier stuff it would become louder.

Why is the performance of corsair's cooler so much worse?

Ive noticed the tubing on the h150i rgb pro is slightly thinner to the old cooler i had, corsair's coolant temp goes from 30 to 40c, not much there.

But the idle temp are so high.

Kinda suprised its cooling is this worse or rather the idle temp is 20-25c higher than my old water cooler.

Pump sits on balanced at 2000rpm but the high-idle temp is worrying me.

Why do ppl buy those fancy shiny bad Corsair coolers ? Go figure 🙂

Exchange it for a 360mm Arctic Freezer II

I do think they are just average, OP claims he had 26C idle on a 5900X wirh its old AIO, but I've never seen mine under 36C even in BIOS, so I suspect an error somewhere (or the PC was outside on a Canadian winter 🙂 )...

Might just go back unless i can resolve it.

Old cooler did well enough for itself.

Masterliquid 360r rgb did that, idle being below 30's with low fan noise from my old arctic p12 pwm pst fans.

Didnt think switching to a more known brand of corsair would have worse performance than a coolermaster aio.

Nope, it's just not possible to have a Tctl/Tdie ("official" sensor value for Ryzen temps) idle temp on a 5900X under 30C with ambient around 20C, unless underclocked to oblivion and even then on nitrogen cooling 🙂

On my custom loop (D5 level pump, reservoir and 240mm rad with 2xArctic P14s) idle at ambient 20C is around 40C, and full Cinebench load starts at 65C, only reach 70C when water is hot after 15 min+. Worse gaming  or other loads (like downloading at 1Gb/sec) temps are in the low 80s

This with standard AMD PL,  PBO on, OC+200 and undervolt -15 to -30

My chip isn't great and reach max 5.05GHz on best cores 4.9 on others

You can also read everything on the web about this : ppl with NH-D15s (which is less than 5C worse than the best AIOs) report 45C idle 85C full load, which fits with my experience but not at all with a 26C idle !! 🙂

Sure you can.. I am doing it with an air cooler. Not even with the legendary D15..

I just ran these a few minutes ago..

What's this magic ? 😮

Hi temps are as expected but how can you get 25C on the chip anytime ? Did you tweak voltage or something ?

May the mobo play a role with my X570 running everything hotter ?

My ambient was 21c, I don’t idle down to the mid to low twenties in the summer unfortunately.. but for the other 3 seasons it works pretty good 🙂

I am feeding the CPU as much power as the socket will allow using PBO, just have my curve set and that’s it 👍🏻

235w PPT is the high temps you see 😎

Masterliquid 360r had my temps below 30c easy on idle doing nothing with even pbo on.

Corsair cooler barely handles idle at 50c and spins up just from launching discord.

At this point im tempted to switch back and have the better idle from coolermasters cooler.

Its that or re-paste it or see if its not sealed properly.
