Desk mount clearance

Go to solution Solved by VIVO-US,

Your typical desk mounted monitor arm will need about 2" or more of depth clearance.  A standard clamp with a hand bolt under the desk will typically need about 5" or 6" of available height for the hand bolt to fit, but there are a few stands out there with a low-profile clamp that instead tightens from the top, so one of those may work for your specific desk.

How much room do desk monitor arms generally need to clamp onto the desk? I'm looking at a few options, and don't see that bit of info anywhere.

For reference, if I mount the arm on the back of my desk, I have about an inch of depth before I run into a crossbar support that blocks anything further horizontally. If I mount on the side, there's no depth restriction, but there is a crossbar that sits about 2.25" below the desktop and would block anything taller. Is that generally enough clearance to use a clamp-type mount?

I know somebody from VIVO replied here when I was answering question about monitor arm.
Maybe they can answer your question with full detail, atleast for their own product lineup

Most ads on Amazon list the dimensions of the mounting base as well as clearances.

If you have clearance issues just use it without the clamp, by drilling a small hole in the desk.
