I just bent the fins on my CPU Cooler

jjcz5

So I just installed the be quiet! Pure Rock 2 and while the cooler was easy peasy to install, the fan was a absolute Bitch. I watched three videos of people putting the fan on and they had no problems. One of them said to apply pressure so I did that but that's when I noticed I bent the fins then it kind of got worse from there. Anyways would this affect temps or anything else? Or did I just flush a bunch of money down the drain...

What @RONOTHAN## said... 🤣

You can possibly straighten the fins with needlenose pliers or a flat-blade screwdriver. Sliding a flat-blade along the gaps of an unbent section into the bend sideways with gentle pressure should start the ball rolling, if not straighten it completely.

Happened to a 2060 super I had. You can try bending the fins back with a flat tip screwdriver.

It doesn't have to look perfect, but the more uniform the spacing between them, the better.

It won't effect prformance per say but rebendinging it back would help make the fan easy to put in

Unless the bending is significant I'd leave the fins alone. You might loose a degree or two but I wouldn't expect much worse.

Definitely don't try to fix those bent edges. A real chance of doing further damage.

For future reference you can edit your post to do such things. There should be a pencil-looking icon at the bottom of your posts for that purpose. Mods tend to frown on double-posts, just an FYI.

A few slightly bend fin edges won't hurt anything. It's only when have multiple fins bent to the point they block airflow, then you'll start to see a difference.
