Are PS1 video cables compatible with PS2?

I ordered a PS2 and it doesn't include video cables, but I have PS1 cables and the connector looks similar, would I be okay to use it with the PS2?

Yeah, but if you're not using a CRT and are putting it on a modern screen with component in I highly recommend buying component cables, picture is night and day better than composite.

Finding some component cables or using one of these is the best way to play PS2 games on a modern display without emulation or a backwards compatible PS3.
