Specs at a glance:

  • Mobo: Z690-A ATX
  • CPU: 12900K
  • GPU: 3080ti
  • Cooler: NH-D15 (air cooled)
  • Mem: 32GB DDR5 5200 MHz
  • Storage: 2TD SSD
  • PSU: SSR-1000PD
  • Fans: QTY6 of NF-F12 120mm

Total Cost: ~$3,500

Cinebench R23 testing:

  • ~12,300 score
  • ~83C max CPU temps

(ignore the "average" column, I let HWinfo64 run longer than this particular 10-min test duration)

I'm very happy with these results.

It tested the same with or without the filter installed. Same score, same peak temps.

Yes, that surprised me too. The filter is apparently a non-factor in performance, which makes sense when you think about what this filter is originally designed for, and it really goes to show how terrible conventional PC dust filters are.

I do not sell these.

I may make an exception for Linus if he throws money at me, but for now I only offer the digital plans in the off-chance someone is crazy enough to want to make their own.

What I want readers to take away from this:

  • RGB is over-rated. (sorry, I couldn't help myself)
  • Traditional PC dust filters are a joke: They are terrible at filtering and great at restricting airflow.

But it doesn't have to be that way:

  • Pleated air filters are awesome.

They allow for adequate filtering without hindering performance (due to their substantially larger surface area).

Automotive or HVAC filters are an excellent choice because they are pleated and come with respectable Merv ratings for filtration.

---

Gonna end this with:

Hey Linus (and gang).

Thanks for all the cool content.

This was my first PC build. I really appreciated your comprehensive How to Build a PC video.

I'm stoked you got to check out my build and best of luck filling your massive warehouse with cool toys.

I'd suggest a CNC plasma, or CNC Fiber-laser for cutting metals.

Thanks.

-Josh!

You can fix that by just putting profanities in your vid, i bet even saying a bad word once in the vid will work just fine

......an engine that would be uneffected by conventional indoor house dust
