Does a vertical gpu riser needs to be grounded with the screws?

Abel789

Hello all, recently I upgraded my gpu riser from pcie 3.0 to 4.0 and I found that the new screw holes doesn´t match with the old ones so I used double sided gummy tape to create a bed and don´t have the card floating as you can see in the picture. That made me think that maybe those two screws were there with contact pads for a reason to ground the pci port but in the flip side I think the gpu is also grounded to the case.

Are those 2 screws needed then?

Thank you

Greetings.

While they may offer some sort of grounding they are mainly there to secure the riser pcb to the rest of the vertical mount.

Yea, I was thinking the same but I saw the copper around the hole just like in the mb and it annoyed me haha.

Thank you.
