rtx 3090, what resolution and refresh rate

ok, so if you are using an rtx 3090, and only have space for a single 27 inch monitor, what should be its resolution and refresh rate, assuming you will use it for general work like meetings/ word processing etc, as well as some good gaming?(cyberpunk, fortnite, minecraft, bf5, other indie games etc.)

Imagine everything i have written in a Linus Voice/ linus tone (Spock live long and prosper gif here ,idk why tho, i guess i just want to say that i like star trek and am waiting for new seasons of the ongoing shows), But seriously, a lot of what i type only makes sense when said in a Linus tone from an older ltt video (circa 2017-2019 & now 2024-onwards) basically before he got a beard and a lot of it should make sense even in a Linus with a beard face.

also note as per the latest typing test on my laptop, my accuracy is 69%

 

I'm not weird/creepy, I'm just observant I have ADHD and am not on any meds for it.

4k, the highest refresh rate AMOLED/IPS monitor you can find (As long as it has gsync or is gsync compatible). If you spent that much on a graphics card, might as well appropriately get a decent monitor.

Limited to 27" narrow down many choice to following only

  • 1440p 240hz
  • 2160p (4K) 144hz

I will pick 1440p as if you want all games in maximum setting run smoothly with over at least 100fps. RTX 3090 is the most powerful card now but it still cannot handling all games in maximum setting in 4K for at least 100fps. 

 

2nd reason I pick 1440p over 4K is because they is no need change scaling in Windows. For 4K in 27" 100% scale is too small and bigger scaling is required, this still impact for some classic apps even on latest Windows 11 (22H2 beta build).

id say 1440p 240 as its a good balance of high refresh rate and and resolution

I'd go for a 4K 144Hz monitor.

 

The Gigabyte M28U, Samsung Odyssey G7 LS28 and MSI MAG281URF are all great choices. They're pretty much the same so go for whichever is the cheapest.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Ok 3 people  say 4K and 2 people say 1440, twist, what if I upgrade to Lovelace(4080)

What if you actually upgrade to something first rather than constantly asking hypothetical questions? Our answers still apply, since you havent figured out main limiting factor is the screen size.

If 32", then I suggest 4K as I use before 1440p in 32" and it is not sharp enough for text.
