Yeah, getting an i5 or an i7 won't make any difference unless you are wanting a little bit more performance in terms of applications which use hyper threading.

no, go for a higher end gpu, if you are on a tighter budget you are better off getting an i5 and a better gpu instead, always get the best gpu you possibly can, it's better to get a single powerfull gpu over sli two lower end ones, the processor isn't THAT important nowadays.

you didn't specify so i'm just assuming this is for gaming.

why do you think so? even the geforce 9500gt got SLI

Well if you don't want to believe us go and do it and tell us how it goes.

Anyway you don't want to SLI two low end cards because 2 cards does not equal 2x performance. On a good day you will get 1.8-9% performance of a single card and on a bad day you can only use one card. And you don't want to be stuck with a single 560.

but motherboard and processor is something you will never change and the gpu isnt that hard to dismount

Well why can't you change your mobo?

Anyway buying an i7 for gaming is pointless. In games it performs the same as an i5 so unless you are not gaming just buy an i5. Buy an i5 and the best single GPU you can afford for the best experience you can get.

its not like you can never ever change your cpu/mobo again :D

an i5 4670 or even 4440 is enough with a 120$ board. You can do anything you want and blast more on that gpu.

thats right but Intel core i7 4770k sounds better than intel Core i5 4670

If you are gaming it is simply not. Sure it has a slightly higher clock speed but it won't make any real world difference.

Nvidia seem to deliberately price their cards so that two mid range cards in SLI cost the same amount as the single card they're equivalent to. Getting two 760s won't save you any money overall compared to a 780 and will perform comparably. The only benefit would be that it would allow you pay half now and half at some other time.

I've been running two 560ti's in SLI for about 2 years now. The performance is still acceptable but the 1 GB memory limitation on each of the cards is causing some stuttering in graphics intensive moments. I've noticed that the cards are gradually running hotter over time (I assume trying to keep up with the greater demand from newer games).

Since the cards are running warmer and requiring the fans to run at 100% most of the time, noise has become an issue as well. As a result, I am looking at purchasing a 770 soon to replace them.

For what it's worth, that would be my suggestion for OP as well. One card with better performance, cooler running and a lot quieter seems like a no brainer for me......
