Something I heard from another customer at Microcenter Today

So I was at the checkout line getting some new thermal paste as I forgot to get it when I first entered Microcenter today when getting new mobo and CPU and I saw the other customer in front of me with an practically entirely new system worth of parts. I asked if he was building one and he said yeah, his 3090 TI fried everything but the SSDs on his system and that he was using an old 2080 GPU as a stopgap. How does a 3090 TI fry an system?

It doesn't. A bad PSU could. If the power supply doesn't have good protections it can overvolt other parts of the computer.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

If I had to guess, they likely got a new PSU for the 3090ti and didn't replace the cables to the PSU and reused the old ones that have a different pin out.

Are you serious? A rookie mistake like that? Greg Salazar did that like six years ago.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

I've noticed since his personal life shake up, he has been making a lot of rookie mistakes.
I used to watch his videos for entertainment, now I watch them to see if he's going to screw up again.
