i5-12600k runs hot???

So i am running a i5-12600k OCed to 5 ghz on all p cores and 4 ghz or e cores.  Running a MSI MAG Core Liquid P360 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler,360mm Radiator, Triple 120mm and MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4 LGA 1700 Intel Z690 SATA 6Gb/s ATX Intel Motherboard.  The air coming off the AIO is enought to actaully warm my room!!  Is this normal?  I just went into the bios and turned up the clock speed. Didnt change and voltages or ratios or anything.  Is there a better way to OCed this badass to get faster speeds and lower temps?

Thanks again

OC will basically always increase the amount of power the CPU uses. My guess is if you look it's consuming 200W, so that CPU is effectively acting as a space heater.

If you want it to run cooler, experiment with undervolting, but that won't get you super far.

Higher clocks increase the amount of power used, even if you do not increase voltage, since it increases the amount of amps flowing through the CPU (P = V x I).

Switching transistors requires work, the more often you switch them (higher frequency), the more work is being done. The CPU doing more work requires more power. You can try to mitigate the increase in amps by combining the overclock with an undervolt. Ultimately there's no free lunch when it comes to overclocking.

You probably should, the auto voltage usually is focused on making sure the CPU is stable disregarding power consumption, so it often ends higher than it could be.

Also if you don't want a space heater (while in full load) you shouldn't OC, you're likely increasing the power consumption in 50%+ for a small performance improvement.

Make sure your AIO isn't on the list of those recalled by MSI, some series of that model had a fault.

There’s a reason gaming machines are jokingly called “space heaters”.  A12600k is a 12700k with 2 cores lopped off.  If you clock it it’s going to be hot.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

*looks at 3080/5900X*

Who said it was jokingly?

Don't forget that if you leave the voltage on auto, odds are that it will automatically raise the voltage quite a bit to keep the chip stable if you increase the clock speed, putting out even more heat.
