RMAing a Motherboard - Tips for Shipping

Need to RMA my ATX size motherboard. Any tips for shipping it properly? Unfortunetly, I can't ship in my retail packaging as Asus won't return any packaging. I have an ESD bag.

Easy. Get as small a box that it will fit in as possible and use a lot of bubble wrap. Like half a roll should do

ESD bag -> bubble wrap -> slightly oversized box -> pack with more bubble wrap and scrunched newspaper.

Also make sure to put the socket protection on (the plastic piece that's always on the CPU socket on new boards) so the pins won't bend or break during shipping

Just sent my Asus board in original box warping in bubble wrap. Perfectly sized box and packing wrap so no movement but they use FedEx so who knows what could happen. Hah.  Also ask asus for shipping label in an email. They sent me one. Be damned if I paying for my board dying suddenly.

DId you have to pay for yours or did you manage to get one for free? I tried to get an Asus shipping label but unfortunetly, the only one they offer in Canada is the overnight shipping and that costs $70 CAD.

Also did you get your original box back? I know they mention on the packing and shipping document that whatever packaging you send, you won't get back.

I got one in an email. Cause I asked. So free. US I am in however. There US repair center is the state next to me so I’m not sure about Canada. I’d call and ask a manger or something. I’m sure you can get it free. No way would I pay to ship their broken products.

well they’ll send me a new one cause I tested everything to make sure it was nothing else but the board. It’s just dead no way they can fix it. Haha. Shipped today I don’t care if they do honestly.

Sure enough, when I first asked the support agent where the label was, they said that I'd have to provide the label. When I asked why, they offered me a label. Those sneaky bastards.

 

Anyway, thanks for saving me $60!
