Slowing down speeds with extensions

KingDreyer
Why not replace the cable with a new longer one? Also, extensions should barely slow down your wifi, based off personal experience.

As long as you have a decent cable, Ethernet is good up to 100m or 328 feet end to end. Thats according to the official standard. So extending it as long as it within that length shouldn't be any issue.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Technically every connector will reduce that length as there are losses in the plugs and sockets, by how much may depend on the quality of the connector.

Just don't get the cheapest, I have a load of cheap ones from eBay that don't hold the plug in properly so will disconnect (but look fine) unless I cable tie both cables so they do not come loose. 😉

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
