First Desk PC Build

Hello all, new to the forums here. Just thought I'd share my current PC build, see what you all think and get a few suggestions for the next iteration. This was my first custom water cooled build, so I took it easy and created a layout that didn't require any bending. This was also the first desk I have ever made, so it's pretty rough, and the bottom half is still unfinished looking. This is sort of a prototype until I can finally find a house to move into (curse this housing market) and set up a little workshop and make something a little nicer. I'm hoping to improve my woodworking skills so that I can do a wood/resin top some day. I want to go all out on my next build, built in mini fridge and charging ports included.  Any ideas on what your ultimate gaming desk would look like?

That is....too clean. We're not worthy here.

Seriously though, amazing job. I would never get a desk like that myself, but that's very well done.

Maybe @LinusTech would like to take a gander, he's done some of these builds.

The only two things I'd change are both personal opinion; ultrawide monitor, and more storage.

Linus himself has taken a liking to your build, awesome!

I cant really recommend upgrades other than a better middle monitor and more storage without knowing your use case though.

Welcome to the forum!

Yeah, more storage would be good. I had never had a computer before with a terabyte of storage, so I didn't realize how quick it would fill up. I do want an ultrawide monitor, but it doesn't play very nicely for work. I was thinking maybe having an ultrawide mounted on an arm above that could swing down in front of the other monitors when gaming, but I can't mark up the walls in my current place.

It's for both work and gaming. I'm looking for any wild and crazy ideas for my next iteration. What would your dream gaming desk have included? Mini fridge? Coffee brewer? Display case for old tech? Any ideas you have would be appreciated.

Is that a Gen4 riser cable?

It is not, good question. I had bought the riser cable to fix my previous computer, which was in a case with a built in riser cable that failed and had no way to remove it (dumb design). So my solution was to get a really long cable and just prop my GPU up outside of my case lol. But that was before Gen4 was released. If I wasn't already running all games on max settings I'd think about upgrading it.

Looks amazing!

Thanks! I'm looking for wild suggestions for the next iteration of this desk, do you have any ideas? What would your dream gaming desk include?

I'm already thinking of doing:

  • Built in mini fridge
  • Built in charging for all my devices
  • Built in LED strip along the back edge
  • Wood/epoxy top, something like this (although I'm a few years of experience away from doing something anywhere near as nice)

Midnight Bayou Resin Dining Table — Blacktail Studio

I'm looking for any ideas no matter how silly or out of reach they may seem.

Ahhh yeah that'd be tricky. Odd that there's a workflow that doesn't do better on the ultrawide than single monitors.

Games just keep getting larger and larger. I need almost 100GB for War Thunder.

The mini fridge would be very neat. How about like an actual pc enclosure inside of the desk though too? So like similar to now except with airflow in mind and separate compartments for radiators. Maybe have the radiators mounted at the back where the fans could have full airflow with no impedance? Sky is the limit.
