VGA LED lit on a brand new ASUS Prime D4 B660

Just a follow-up - the dude returned motherboard with 9 CPU pins bent.

Lmao. @--SID-- @Frizz @OddOod

Hey guys!

Straight to the question - I bought ASUS Prime D4 B660, I plug my CPU, GPU etc. and it works fine - the next day I sold it to dude online - because I figured I prefer to have ability to overclock stuff.

Today he sends me info that VGA LED is lit and there's nothing on the screen - with the GPU in, without GPU in, with 1 RAM stick, without RAM sticks - his specs are:

- RTX 3060Ti

- Seasonic S12III 650 80 Plus Bronze PSU

- i5-12600

He and his buddy tried resetting BIOS, taking the CMOS battery out, etc. - I'm guessing a faulty PSU or the BIOS needs an update, but I'm cluesless at this point? - The CPU fans are spinning, there's just no display

VGA means his GPU is throwing an errror. Possible that he didn't plug in the GPU power?

He claims he and his buddy plugged in 3 different GPUs, and also tried booting without any GPU plugged (via CPU integrated GPU).

Is it lit with every GPU they try?

VGA LED can also mean no monitor/EDID process happened.
Might need to double triple check that the cable is firmly in the monitor and GPU, and try other cables.

Try a TV to make sure the monitor is working right etc

I'm sure it's either of these, considering they weren't very knowledgable.

The motherboard is already on its' way back to me, I'll take it to local workshop and ask them to plug it (as I don't have a loose LGA1700 CPU to put in) - I'll post an update 😄

This is one of the few junk Seasonic PSUs. I wouldn't use it with a 3060 Ti.

I had one Seasonic in my life, I don't remember if it was Bronze grade too - but it's the first time I've seen any electronic device smoke.

Yeah - apparently some IT specialist was involved in putting his PC together and he bent it - because prior to putting it together, CPU pins were alright.

I think you guys will enjoy this @Frizz @OddOod @--SID--
The location of bent pins gives me a strong suggestion that the dude tried to use screwdriver like a lever to put the protection cover up.
