is this good enough for a pc?

I completely missed that your prices were in CAD. My bad.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

The 5800X also has 8 cores, is faster and is PCie4 (5700G is PCie3), that's largely worth the $40 difference if you don't need an APU

Now with a 5700G you don't need as much cooling, a $30 one will do

Do you really need the extra cores? For gaming, a 5600x will blow that 5700g away, and save you over $100 in the process.

It will last you until 5800X's are dirt cheap on the used market and you can just pick one of those up to upgrade to.

Also the 5600X, even in multi core workloads, is about the same as the 5700G while being much faster in single core. The 5700G just doesn't make sense to get for a system with a dGPU.

It will be fine for the next 5 years easily. Also swap the 4000x for the 4000D as the 4000x has pretty crap airflow due to the glass front.

Tbh intel is still really good value just because better ipc and the extra e cores, and its actually ~50$ cheaper than your og list while being pretty much a full upgrade, also 32gb ram just so no more struggles with them chrome tabs, btw if you want amd just swap the board for a b550 pro4 and cpu to 5800x

overclocking

Cpu overclocking has been dead since 9th gen and is not worth doing anymore since you only get a meager 5-10% gain instead of 50%+ gains back in the older platforms like 775, 1366, etc. If you want a proper and not pathetic cpu oc then go figure how to get <50c temps without ruining aesthetics (possible but then youd have a massive external rad and a boatload of extra inconveniences), Also expect to push 1.5v+ vcore cause new cpus are already running at their limit. All that just to get a pitifull 300-500mhz over stock maximum turbo speed for ryzen/i7 and up

I have a ryzen 5 5600x cpu and i need help choosing between these two. I need to know which one s better and quieter.

1: Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB

2: Cooler Master MASTERLIQUID ML240L RGB V2

The AIO is better, but overkill for the 5600X. The Hyper 212 is about the performance you should be shooting for, but the price for it is also way higher than it should be.

Look at the Vetroo V5, it's about the same performance as the Hyper 212 and should cost $15 less.

Would the AIO be good for a 5800x?

Itd be fine but uneccesary, its either save a ton of money, let the cpu boost w pbo with a temp of 70-90c

Or spend a boatload of money on cooling thatll keep cpu under 50c at all times for any decent oc that isnt a pitiful 200mhz or below

Anything inbetween is pretty much worthless unless you get a beefy aircooler like nhd15 or drp4 since those are meant to last over a decade and cool pretty much any cpu you throw at it

@Somerandomtechyboii really didn't get what you are trying to say

Its either a cheap cooler thatll keep the cpu adequately cool and allow it to boost (>70c) or an overkill cooler thatll keep cpu 50c and under at all times for proper overclocking and not measly 200mhz under oc. Anything in the middle is pointless unless you want longevity with a beefy aircooler or silence with either said beefy aircooler or aio

ok i get it, so i should get the better one so i can overclock? Or should I get the cheaper one to save the money

Why lock yourself into only two options when there most likely are better ones out there too?

Overclocking is not worth it so dont bother with expensive coolers (only custom loops and more exotic forms of cooling can keep <50c temps at all times), cheap ones will be fine and just let pbo auto oc for you, if you want real gain from oc then expect to push 1.5v+ vcore so potential degradation if you run that on ryzen

Budget (including currency): 2500 cad

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Overclocking, blender, AAA games, and school

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I want to be able to score at least 144hz on a 1080p resolution. I also have lots of different tabs and windows open

also should i replace the 5800x with a 3800x? I like the cooler for the 3800x
