LGA1150 Socket Corsair H60 doesn't fit

I received a free computer. Which is now my experiment/ Wife's desktop. Any suggestions for a decent cooler. It is thermal throttling on a basic Intel benchmark is seconds. 

Specs:

Mother board: MSI B85-G41

CPU: Intel I5-4460

Ram: 16 Gb DDR3

GPU: GT 1030 Silent Low Profile 2G

Case: MSI Gungnir 110R

Power supply: Antec EA-650 green.

In what manner does the H60 not fit?

The screw holes for the support bracket don't line up on the back side. I could be over looking something. 

That being said I am not apposed to buying a cooler. I had the H60 sitting around.

Are you talking about the backplate behind the motherboard, or the bracket on the block itself?

 

Either way, the holes are slotted so the screws/nuts can slide in and out to fit.

Can you check the box for the exact model number? There are at least three different H60 models around that I know of.

The only thing showing is H60 and an SKU 5845215. The back plate behind the motherboard is the issue. It did not appear to be adjustable. However I will look tonight. 
Like I said probably something stupid I over looked. Although most of this Free computer has been strange. Mislabeled graphics card, Factory CPU cooler mount had a broken clip. IDE hardware with adapter to Sata. all wrapped in a Cooler master tower no fans( besides the CPU and Power supply)

If it's the one that came with the cooler, it should be adjustable for different socket sizes

They provided bracket I. Which I confirmed is adjustable at lunch today. However the screws do not go far enough inward to catch all 4 holes on the board. I could dremel the bracket some to make it work.

Are you trying to use the wrong screws? You should be using the LGA 115x standoffs. See how the threads are the same length on either side, but the 2011 standoffs are different length?

No. You are doing something wrong. Figure out what it is and correct it before you go permanently modifying things and possibly making the situation worse. 

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

See photo. The screws spacing is adjusted all the way in. Bracket was placed offset in photo so you can see the C-C of the screw holes vs the bracket. It comes up roughly 1/4" to large.

I am positively befuddled. Even if it were a backplate for a different cooler, it should still fit the 115x screw spacing...

 

I wonder if MSI quietly made a 115x board with socket 775 mounting hole spacing? But the MSI page for that board doesn't mention anything... can you measure the hole spacing center to center (preferably in mm)? 72mm = 775; 75mm = 115x.

Absolutely. Even better I think I have an old 775 cooler floating around. My dad and I experiment with computers all to often. To say we have an inventory of old stuff is an understatement.  Heck he made a clock from old hard drive disks that he acquired over the years.

I wonder if MSI quietly made a 115x board with socket 775 mounting hole spacing? But the MSI page for that board doesn't mention anything... can you measure the hole spacing center to center (preferably in mm)? 72mm = 775; 75mm = 115x.

Ok so I borrowed a bracket from my friend who has a used H60. His bracket fits. It appears the cut outs in my bracket were smaller. Now the cooler mounts perfectly.
