good first get that GPU out, and use your IGPU with your Mainboard HDMI. To do so you need to reset your BIOS. Go to your BIOS settings and set use Integrated GPU.

from here you can Put your R9 380 back in aigain but keep the HDMI in your mainboard your PC should boot and you can check inside your windows if the GPU is still detectet.

in your case the R9 380 is a bit dated so it could be feasable that you killed your card.

1) get your R9 out of the system

2) Stick your HDMI in your Mainboard Port

3) do a cmos reset

4) boot into BIOS

5)search for something that let you change your priorised Display output

If it works with Microsoft's generic graphic drivers, but not the actual drivers. That right there is the likely cause. GPU is "dead".

There might still be some hope that it's a software issue... Did you uninstall the drivers with DDU first?

  • 2 weeks later...

Define Killed/Examples of it being dead...

You could be wrong, you could be right, best make sure before you try.

Baking electronics is the dumbest thing anyone can do. You dont even know if your card is actually dead or if your problem is related to solder/bga related. So no, dont go out baking electronics just because linus made a clickbait video about it.

Eyoo guys from a week i killed my gpu (r9 380) because of overclocking so i wanted to ask if this video will work for me ?

I would say no. If you are sure you killed your GPU with OC (how did that even happen?) then it's probably done for. The kind of fix shown in the video works for physical problems caused perhaps by heat or bending of the board.

A repair technician replied to a video about this on youtube. Baking it might resolder the parts, but it will NOT last very long. it's a bad idea.

Bring it to someone who knows how to actually do a proper analysis of the card (if you feel like it's worth it) and get it repaired the proper way.

The "baking" thing is basically a last resort for a temporary "fix." The "repair" won't last and if a part is at this stage it's essentially already ewaste.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Baking only helps solder. If the solder cracked, baking will help soften the solder and seal the cracks off helping to fix connection issues through that joint.

A little bomb should have marks to tell you what broke. Short of knowing that, no one will know if it's repairable.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Please don't try the oven trick, unless you want your oven to smell like burning fiberglass, and make food that smells like burning fiberglass for the rest of time.

Highly knowledgeable in all the obscure 2000s hardware & software you'll never need to ask about

^^ Every guide I've seen on it explicitly states that you should never cook food in the same oven you use to bake electronics. So unless you have a dedicated oven for cooking your computer parts, it's never something worth doing.
