Acer Predator G9-791 & Win 11 ?

Hello, is it possible to upgrade to Windows 11 on Acer Predator 17 G9-791 ? I've read some forums regarding that issue & seen some upgrade videos & I'm still not too convinced. I don't have a possibility to upgrade via Windows Update, 'cause it says it's no supported yet. Then I've tried a PC Health Check app and it said that CPU (Intel Core i7-6700HQ)   isn't supported (but everything else went fine...secure boot, TPM 2.0, etc..) even though min. requirements for CPU apparently are "1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores". I could probably manually install Win 11 with some modifications....but the question is, is it worth it, even thought it's not officially supported yet or should I wait for an official update, if it ever eventually comes ? Would this affect the laptop in a bad way (especially the battery) ?

It is possible to install Win11 on unsupported hardware certainly, not guaranteed that every thing will work correctly, if at all, although you might be pleasantly surprised. However the question is really what is it you are so desperate to gain over Win10? What does Win11 provide that you just can't do without and are willing to go through all the potential effort and troubleshooting in order to gain?

Personally, on unsupported hardware I would be more inclined to stick with Win10 for the next 3 - 5 years.

You can clean install it and it'll work fine, but you won't be offered a chance to upgrade. Needs a CPU that's at least 8th gen for official support.

Personally I would not upgrade it. In my eys Windows 11 is still beta software.

I have to disagree with that statement, I have been running a clean install of Win11 on supported hardware since October 5th 2021, all automatic updates since installed, and I have had zero issues, even the printer and hard drive issues did not affect me and my 11 year old graphics tablet works perfectly with OOB driver support.

I use blender, GIMP, Macrium 7, Krita, Libre Office 7, Minecraft, Control, Assassins Creed Odyssey, Outer Worlds and a variety of other apps and utilities daily.

Win11 is not beta software, it is a developing OS, like Win10 started as and still is.

I am not however saying no one will have issues, even on supported hardware or that everyone should upgrade, decide for your self, Win10 is certainly more mature currently so unless you just want to try Win11 or desperately need it's features maybe stick with what you know.

I understand everyone's statement, but as far as min. requirements go as seen in my previous post..........it's says 1ghz or more with 2 cores or more .....and yet 2.6 4core cpu still isn't officially supported. I don't need to upgrade as soon as possible, but if I'd ever had to, what problems would it bring? Would it be just a software issue, or would it be possible to damage any hardware? Purely asking 'cause I've seen some people online blaming Win11 for damaging their Acer Helios systems, and Predator is a bit similar.

Yes but also "8th gen or newer" so your 6th gen doesn't qualify.

Shouldn't be any problem.

Been running it on my main machine since release in November even if it's unsupported, everything's fine, all good either on the others.
