Non-sim racing game for PC?

Joduko

What I'm looking for is a racing game with online multiplayer, but specifically I'm looking for the kind that aren't realistic or even necessarily cars.

I'm talking like Mario Kart, Super Monkey Ball, Choro Q kind where you can pick up items and weapons etc.

Super Tux Kart is free and pretty fun.

Garfield Kart: Furious Racing is definitely interesting.

Hot Wheels Unleashed comes to mind straight away.. cos it's kinda new and seems to fit the bill.

The only concern is PC Population of servers vs Console.., some games just don't have a lasting online presence due to population dropping over time on PC.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Good luck.

The racing genre of gaming has basically devolved into sim/sim-lite titles and crap like the recent Need For Speed titles that are more about putting together a crew to set a record number of social media likes by robbing a casino or some such nonsense than they are about actually racing.

Games for people who want to enjoy racing without either needing to adjust gear ratios or listen to cringe dialogue pretty much don't exist now.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed.

Hands down the best karting game I've ever played.

It's basically Mario Kart but for Sega, with better item balance, and depending on the course your vehicle changes between car, boat and plane seamlessly.

It has the added "benefit" of being a bit old, so you should be able to pick it up for cheap-o during a sale (unfortunately the Steam winter sale just ended).

don't be discouraged by such senseless and absurd claims as from "Middcore", the opposite is the case The genres your are looking for are kart racing games and vehicular combat games maybe u can search for yourself on steam  there are a lot of games that match your criterias.

One of these isn't even a racing game at all and most of them will have no population for multiplayer.

And do you have any proof for this claim or are these just statements like that arcarde racing games pretty much don't exist (anymore) ?We were able to easily refute this statement and at least we were able to make reasonable suggestions to op unlike you who only spread your personal opinion without being asked.

Which claim? For player population of the titles you suggested: SteamCharts exists. For Rocket League not being a racing game: I don't think I need to "prove" this.

If you like some of the games above, more power to you. If OP ends up liking some of them, more power to them as well, although I think the lack of anybody to play with online for most of them will be fatal even if the gameplay itself is enjoyable. My opinion is that arcade racers dying out and in "All Star Fruit Racing" is supposed to be a standard-bearer I just take that as further evidence for my contention.
