From Crises, my new setup

sandronejm

Hello,

After my notebook broke due to failure to one ram card, I decided it was time to get a new setup. So it was a old laptop with Intel iGpu that I used for 5 years. And, again, got a setup with no GPU xD I think Ill be without a gpu for a long time.

My setup:

(189$) Asus z690 M DDR4.

(350$ black friday) Intel i7 12700K.

(140$) Pack of 2x16GB 3200mhz DDR4 Memory Ram Cards.

(60$) CV 650w 80Plus Power Supply Corsair No Rgb No Modular.

(45$) m 2 ssd 500gb.

(50$) Wifi 6E Bluetooth 5.2 Pci 3 1x Module.

(20$) TPM 2.0 PSI 14 Pin for Windows 11

(130$) Cooler Master MB500 PC CASE.

(90$) Processor Cooler Assassin III, DeepCool

Total: 1,074$

Im waiting the goods arrive. I know I could get a 1650 or 1660 video card but these was so expensive like 3x MSRP. I was disappointed about it so I went without gpu.

i would return this, that motherboard should already have tpm 2.0

the motherboard doesnt, technically, its build into the cpu.

100% wasted 20$ and tax, the tpm is built into the cpu

what psu?
a 60$ 650w doesnt seem like its be safe for a 12700k

I wouldve gotten a 12600, 2x8gb ram, and a cheeper b series motherboard (with wifi built in), cheeper case, better psu, and a budget gpu.

or a ryzen based system, the 5700g would destroy the 12700k without a gpu (its like 2x-2.5x as fast)

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

RX5600 or 3060 seems like a good gpu.. unless its not possible to find it affordable without going full scalper price.

Also a 60$ psu as the others have said above.. For a intel power hungry processor? Hope your going for a better one.

Useful threads: PSU Tier List | Motherboard Tier List | Graphics Card Cooling Tier List ❤️

Baby: MPG X570 GAMING PLUS | AMD Ryzen 9 5900x /w PBO | Corsair H150i Pro RGB | ASRock RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming OC (3020Mhz & 2650Memory) | Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB DDR4 (4x8GB) 3600 MHz | Corsair RM1000x |  WD_BLACK SN850 | WD_BLACK SN750 | Samsung EVO 850 | Kingston A400 |  PNY CS900 | Lian Li O11 Dynamic White | Display(s): Samsung Oddesy G7, ASUS TUF GAMING VG27AQZ 27" & MSI G274F

I also drive a volvo as one does being norwegian haha, a volvo v70 d3 from 2016.

Reliability was a key thing and its my second car, working pretty well for its 6 years age xD

i mean the 12700k is pretty good for intel, its so much beter per watt than the 12900k beat the power out of the silicon with 300w

oh i read wrong then, thought i read 12900k at first.

I agree, getting the top model to EAT 300w than just getting the 12700k is a better idea yeah 🙂

The 12600K is 0.1Ghz base clock faster, but I'm happy to have the 12700K and additional 2 P-Cores/Turbo 3.0.

Thanks everyone who replied, I really appreciate the help from everyone here, it really made  things clear to me.

I am concerned  about why you guys say my PSU is not enough for my setup, Ive calculated that 650watts had some headroom. Couldnt  it be enough to add a 3060 or 3070 later? 🧐

I've calculated here

https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator

@Caroline lol both my Wifi and TPM module are as expensive than my  PSU 😂

I'm curious why is there on my motherboard a TPM SPI entry, wouldn't be better quality my purchased TPM than the one integrated from my processor?

Asus Z690-M D4 has 1x PCIe 5.0 and 1x PCIe 4.0, so I assume I can add two videocards and benefit from it on games? Is that recommendable or is better to go with one gpu only?

@Caroline

That cleared out, I will concern about PSU so much after reading this. I'l think about what I'll do about it and take the best decision carefully. Thank you

This will hurt some feelings but it's time to accept CFX and SLI are dead. This is about having multiple graphics cards to run games, no modern game is able to take advantage of a multi-gpu configuration

i dont think anyone is invested enough to have his feelings hurt.

It may be enough wattage, but the quality of a 60$ psu is dubious

my idea with getting a cheaper cpu and a couple other price savings was so you could get a budget gpu

Nope, dual gpu is dead

Get a bigger PSU, like a RM750 or something like that, so when you are able to get a GPU, you are ready. If you're only planning for a lower end card as a 1660/1650 then 650 is fine.
