First-time Build (£2,000 - £2,500 Budget)

DarkestAces
Go to solution Solved by Pixelfie,

I would actually get a 12700K and Z690 instead.

Also the RM750x is the same price but better. You may also be able to get a 6600 XT for cheaper (they're also better than a 3060.

Budget (including currency):

£2,500 (or $3,360 USD)

Country:

United Kingdom

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

CS:GO, Call of Duty, GTA 5, Rocket League, Dead by Daylight. Mostly used for gaming, but also some daily tasks such as Youtube, Twitch, etc.

Other details:

I'm completely new to PC building, but would like to build a rig that can run these games smoothly and with high level graphics. I'm currently on a Laptop and am in need of an upgrade.

FYI, I'm looking at a dual monitor setup - MSI Optix AG321CR Curved Gaming Monitor - 31.5 Inch (2x £200 each)

Intel: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Z7dCsX

AMD: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/pMD3Vc

Hope you can help,

Thanks.

If you're going with Intel I'd suggest getting a 12th gen i7 12700K instead of the 10850k. And of course a different motherboard since Z490 is LGA1200 while 12th gen is LGA1700. The 12700k has 12 cores and is 100£ cheaper.

Intel: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/FVRBsX

Welp you are only doing daily tasks so no need for a 980 pro, and ditched the aio cause overpriced and uneccesary, along with a few other upgrades

If you wanna futureproof 32gb will easily fit in the budget, same goes for 12700k or 5900x

You can easily score a 3080 with the leftover budget

Hi,

Thanks for all the help identifying certain areas of my build that needed changing, I have decided to go for this setup:

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/2sGxDc

Any further opinions are welcome and all I need to do now is purchase and start the unduly task of finding a reasonably priced GPU (3070Ti/3080)

Thanks again.

It isn't a true 12 core. It is a hybrid 8 + 4.

If you end up going with Alderlake and W10 then you might find disabling the E cores gives you better gaming performance.

IMO u don't really need the 2nd m.2 now, can always add it in later

try to use the extra budget to get 3080 instead

How would I go about doing that?  Or should I look at another CPU?

(Newbie here)

There will be an option in the bios. If you go with a Gigabyte Z690 board they have just released a DRM fix tool so that will make it easier. Not sure if the other manufacturers have released anything, but you will still have the option in the bios.

The 12th gen is the fastest cpu for most games if you are mainly gaming. If you don't care about the latest then Ryzen is still good. The price would have to come down though, as the 5800X is priced too high compared to the 12700K.

Hello again, hopefully the last time I will need any advice. What monitor should I get for this setup? (Budget: £150-£250)

I was thinking the: MSI Optix AG321CR Curved Gaming Monitor - 31.5 Inch, 16:9 Full HD (1920 x 1080) 165Hz.

Is there a better monitor I should look into?

Thanks.
