Hyper 212 evo still worth it for this build?

Yes, it's better.

I'm planning for a r7 5800x build and wondering if the hyper 212 evo is still worth getting for that cpu. My local pc store has many in stock and wondering if the cooler is still adequate enough esp due to its age.

It hasn't gotten worse 🙂  It's still a great cooler, but the price determines if it's a god buy or not.  There are other that perform as well for cheaper at times.

Hyper 212 can handle my overclocked i7, and my roommate runs a 5800X on a much smaller cooler (Wraith prism). If the 212 is cheap at your local store, it's a good get.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Honestly speaking, with how competitive the market is now, 212 Evo can be found at the same price range as those who are doing the same for even cheaper, quieter, or even cooler for little extra. Look for Scythe Mugen 5, Deepcool Gammaxx 400, Arctic Freezer 34, and NH-U12 S Redux by Noctua.

From better to worse and each step being rather slight:

Hyper 212 RGB BE > BE > Turbo > X > Evo > LED

Not sure about Hyper 212 X Dual Fan since there are few reviews of them but from what I've seen, I'd guess between the BE and Turbo.

The Evo improved upon the LED with touching heatpipes and a higher rpm fan. The X uses slightly larger and improved fins over the Evo. The Turbo is just the LED with a 2nd fan. I'm not entirely sure why the BE performs so well in benchmarks but I'd guess that it's partially due to the updated mounting hardware and extreme static pressure fan design. As for the RGB BE, the fan has more blades for airflow at the cost of more noise. I was originally expecting the BE to outperform the RGB BE but most benchmarks showed otherwise.

It's alright. Pricing can make it a competitive option.

I'm using Hyper 212 LED Turbo for my Ryzen 5 3600, but I did upgrade the fan to a better one (as the original fans lack of static pressure), and this thing rarely hits 72c (CPU speed do drop from 4100MHz all cores to around 3900MHz all cores once the CPU reach 70c).

I'm not sure how it'll perform with Ryzen 7 5800X, but it still can get the job done.

However, depends on your use case, whether you are overclocking it, how long you want your PBO to last, this cooler may or may not suitable for you. If you are not worry about the speed and performance of the CPU, then this cooler is probably a good choice for its price and decent cooling performance. If you are more on over-clocking, you might want to get a better and beefier cooler.

The case is the p400a, which supposedly has great airflow. I just want to make sure that it can game esp. On intensive games and do other multitasking stuff just fine without overheating and throttling.

No OC is going to happen with the pc

The Hyper 212 Evo should be fine for stocks speeds with a bit of boosting headroom. If you're referring to the Hyper 212 Evo V2, that's a bit better.

How much is the Hyper 212 EVO going for at your local PC store?

If you are not limited to local stores, I'd consider a different cooler.

In the price point, you can get better performing CPU coolers now.

This is coming from someone who used a Hyper 212 EVO on a i7-6800K (LGA 2011 v3, X99, platform) for 2+ years.

And then temporarily had it on my current i7-8086K.

Performance is similar but the NH-U12S Redux isn't as quiet and comes with fewer accessories.
