Wait, a modern laptop that still has an HDD?

Anyway, that's definitely slowing you down. 4gb of RAM isn't great either. Even a cheap €30 SSD should make things significantly faster.

My laptop has the HDD specified above and i feel that it is slowing down my laptop. If anyone else has the same model Drive can they tell me how it performs. My laptop lags and sometimes freezes when i have zoom, 2 chrome tabs open, along with a program called MATLAB. Mostly lag spikes happens when i switch to other program or open a folder. Any help will be appreciated.

Dell Inspiron 3501

You have barely enough RAM to run windows 10 and 5 chrome tabs, lag happens because you are most likely using your pagefile due to lack of ram. SSD and RAM upgrade should help significantly.

Thank you for the suggestion guys. I hate dell now for shipping products that will underperform and need upgrades even if brand new. I guess i can get a good Nvme for it, but what about ram? Should i get an equivalent 4gb stick or 8gb stick, don't want to give the system more than what it needs or less?
