Quad port 2.5Gbe PCI-E 2.0 (x4 or x8)

El_Digital

I'm searching for a Quad port 2.5Gbe PCI-E 2.0 (x4 or x8) card but I can't find it, only 1Gbe ones. My plan it's to have 1 or 2 of those cards in a Supermicro X8DTE motherboard. I know that there are a bunch of dual port cards, but I'm not willing to sacrifice 3 or 4 slots.

do you actually need 2.5 Gb dedicated to each client?  Or would a 2.5gb switch work?

Probably your search for PCIe 2.0 constraining results, 2.5Gbe is 5 years newer than PCIe 3.0 so there's little reason to have a 2.5Gbe card that runs PCIe 2.0.

Just get 3.0 cards and run them in your 2.0 slots, checking the bandwidth checks out.

Thanks for clarify me. My concern now its regarding the power, since 3.0 cards need more that the slot can provide.
