i7-2600 non k still good for 2014+ gaming?
You can't OC the i7 2600 (you can change the BCLK modifier though), so the statement it doesn't OC well isn't quite right .
Just because that motherboard isn't a high end extreme board doesn't mean it doesn't OC well because it does. I have an Asus z77 lx v which is similar but a little lower end (middle end motherboard) and I have a stable 4.6GHz CPU OC and 2000mhz ram oc which is above average.
The i7 2600 will do you fine till Sky Lake. I'd upgrade the CPU then if I were you. I personally plan on upgrading my CPU when sky lake comes out.
I think OC'ing gets you like 10 extra FPS (BF4 can use all 4 cores + HT so OC'ing probably makes a more notable difference there)? It also means you can do more demanding things when you game, sometimes I do the borderlands 2 hack so I can have 2 instances of borderlands 2 playing on my PC so an irl friend can play which I think it'd make a big difference. OC'ing isn't the biggest deal in the world but it does gives you an effective boost of like 15-20% (it's not all about the mhz).
