Hi all!
Im looking into getting my first proper gaming PC. I know quite a lot about PC's however im not sure if this spec is decent enough to last me for a while into upcoming years until upgrades can be made.

Processor - Genuine Intel Core i5 Multi Core minimum 3330 Turbo 3.2GHz
Motherboard - Brand may vary but will have minimum of 2x DDR3 memory slots
GPU - GTX 1650

Please send me feedback,
Thanks.

Is there are particular reason why you are getting a almost 10 year old CPU? Anything DDR3 is a dead platform now, any upgrade you make will be lackluster.

Im going Prebuilt due to the graphics shortage and my budget. To get a system with a monitor for £650 with a decent CPU/GPU is hard at the moment. it does say "minimum" meaning it could be newer/better, but your at the mercy of luck. im looking around at other PC's as well but so far this is the best one I've found on value for money. Its just what this man has on his website

Since you are on a tight budget, would it be an option to buy a CPU with integrated graphics for now, and wait until gpu prices drop?
This way you could get a far better cpu for your money, and your system will be viable a lot longer. Especially once you put a graphics card in it.

Could i get a prebuilt and then a used GPU from eBay? For example I've found i can get a I3-10100 with 16GB of 2666 DDR4 but no GPU for 460, then get a £200 GPU from eBay. For example I've found a few 1070 Ti's going for around this price.

Yes you could do that. But with upgradeability in mind, you might benefit from an amd processor, since the sockets don't change very often unlike intel's. Of course that is just a cherry on top. Also, an i3 could bottleneck your 1070. So I'd recommend checking that, before you settle on this cpu and gpu combo.

Yes, you can get such a prebuilt but you'll have to pay attention at the specifications of the build and make sure the power supply can provide enough watts and that they use a standard ATX power supply (if the specs list a standard matx or atx motherboard you can search and read info about then psu most likely is standard)

Some builds with integrated graphics are sold with 240w-350w power supplies, which may be too low to add a used video card because older video cards consume a bit more power than modern video cards.

Also 10100 is kinda low in performance.

This  is a bit overpriced at 600 pounds but will accept a used video card easily : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01M68HE2V/ and the cpu is decent and integrated graphics is also ok.

Note that it won't look like in the pictures, for example pictures have an a320 chipset motherboard, the title says B450M motherboard and 500w bronze efficiency psu.

-> Moved to New Builds and Planning

Don't buy anything with DDR3 unless you are super tight on budget, but may have more money in future. That platform has been passed years ago.

Go for a 5600g or a 5700g.

Also prebuilts are known for their dodgy manufacturing so I strongly advise against it. Also what company will be doing the prebuilt?

I was going to use a local company called acpcs (see link 1), but for the i3-10100 idea that's with a company called pcspecialsts (see link 2)

@jaslion usually has a good prebuilt reccomendation, maybe he can help you find a good prebuilt that isnt a pile of junk (looking at you dell)

The Ryzen 2600 cpu is good. It's put on an A320 motherboard, which means you have limited upgrade choices and can't overclock..

Also mobo would have only two ram slots so if you're lucky they give it with 2 8 GB sticks, if it's a single 16 GB stick then you lose a bit of performance.

Last but not least, it has few reviews, not very positive and seems like they may change parts depending on what's available.

It has no OS. I have found these two

The ADMI link is to the one I suggested, I think.  It's OK.    Again, worth mentioning that what you get may not look like in the pictures... the description says Asus B450M but the pictures have an A320 based motherboard.

I wanted to suggest the Cyberpower when I linked to the ADMI build in a previous post, but I was concerned by the fact it has a single 8 GB 2400 Mhz stick and 2400 Mhz really sucks for a 5600 and especially for the integrated graphics in it.

You'd have to buy a second stick and if you want to use the hardware, you'd want at least 3200 Mhz, and would be best to get 2 sticks, and then you end up having to sell the 8 GB 2400 Mhz.

Another point of concern was their use of "450w gaming power supply" ... no mention of any efficiency rating, so it could be some dud with a label that says "gaming power supply"

It does use a A520 motherboard, so again you're limited to 2 memory slots, and you'll have limited or no overclocking, not that the 5600g would overclock much.

So... no, it really others me they put a 2400 Mhz stick in such a system, a system builder like Cyberpower should be aware of how much it affects performance in games and at least not save $5 or less on ram.

See from around 8:00  how memory frequency affects framerate and keep in mind that's with 32 GB (2x16)  DUAL RANK sticks.  That 8 GB stick could be SINGLE RANK which can also mean a bit lower performance.

For 650 new the hp pavilion with a 4600g and gtx 1650 would be about as good as it gets.

The HP pavillion was not recommended by gamers nexus lol

Yeah their config was the stupid high end one. I'm well aware of this computers shortcomings but for op this is one of the better/best prebuilts in the budget. Avoiding cyberpower as those should not be gotten unless in store only.

This is literally the baseline config. It doesn't get much better in this price segment. You have to compromise somewhere here and this is the compromise. At the base level it is cooled well enough. Has good parts and performs well. It's not very upgradeable but that sadly just comes with the price. This is a you buy it as it is and stays mostly as it is computer.
