Is it really worth the extra time and money?

My gpu runs a bit hot now and i guess that its because of the summer so i thought about getting a custom loop for it

On one hand, it will probably run cooler and i could maybe oc it to a higher level

But on the other hand, i have a 2080 Aorus so it has 4 years or warranty and ive had it for a little over a year now.

I also thought about looping the cpu

Ive got a 10600k which is now at 4.8GHz all cores on 1.29v and its stable as a rock

4.9GHz all cores is stable 97% of the time at 1.33v

And 5GHz is stable 60% of the time at 1.38v but runs mad hot when under full load, around 100c

I have an AIO, H100X but maybe a cuatom loop can give me better temps?

Id like to hear your opinions

Custom loop will not give you significant performance gain. If done right, it can lower the noise level, and look awesome. You will have to be the judge of whether that sounds “worth it” for you.

Im more intrested in lowering my gpu temp

Lately its reaching 80c on games like apex, the witcher, dying light

Low to medium settings

Usually its at 65c, 70c top

Got a pretty high speed fan curve

Idc about noise levels, i have headphones when im playing

I prefer max performance and low temps

in that case performance mods like the morpheus 2 cooler get most of the way there on 1/5th the price of a custom loop

gaming system: Intel core I9 12900ks / biostar Z690A valkyrie / 4x8gb corsair Vengeance @3333Mhz ram / RX 7900XTX pulse gpu / Thermalright peerless assassin 140 /Coolermaster Qube 500 case / Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 12 1500w power supply

laptop: Dell xps 9510, 3.5k OLED, i7 11800h, rtx 3050 ti, 2x16gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz, 1TB main drive, 2TB add in ssd

If bang for buck is anything you are concerned about, a custom loop is not for you

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

Do you have a solution?

Im also looking for maximum performance and low temps

Thats why i didnt buy a custom loop when i built my pc about a year ago

It’ll lower temps for sure, but performance will not change, maybe a couple (1-5 FPS) at most.

Yeah i know

Usually an oc gets up to 10% performance increase in really really rare cases and games but 80c is kinda high, even for a 2080

Im leaning towards a lower temp

The performance side is also important, but with lower temps comes better performance, especially when the card goes from 80c to 70c

Its not thermal throttling yet

No, the max OC you can achieve on air is not going to be different from on water. Temps will be lower by a big margin, but you will have already reached the silicon limit or power limit.

I mean if you're concerned more about low temps and performance a custom loop is where its at, but perf/money is pretty bad and you seemed a bit concerned about that.

It's pretty fun to build a loop, but you also have to maintain it so that's something to keep in mind too

thows temps are low dose not make since to wc just for the summer... but you do you i guess. if you want to oc that's fine but comes at a big cost like $500+ just to oc...

what case you have ? maybe able to min max what you got now? a pic would be worth a thousand words just saying.

a gpu now a days at 80c will last a long time its not like back then thow blower cards and sli killed them in less then 4 years. most likely you will upgrade the gpuy before it dies. pc parts do a good job of lasting most people upgrade because they want to.

Maybe i have somwthing in my gallery

I have a Corsair 275R AirFlow

2 intake fans

3 exhaust fans - one case fan thats working at 100% since its connected to the psu and 2 fans that are the rad fans from the cpu AIO

It doesnt have to be so expensive
I build my loop for under 300$ with barrow parts and its working fine. If you want to go with EK parts, sure, its gonna be expensive

hmm a d5 pump is like $100-150 pump top is say $50 save money you dont need a res, 360 rad is like $85+ and the gpu block probably like $150 so... fittings $5 each tubing say $20 would make scene to do the cpu so a cheap block is like $20

i gotten cheap cooper rads and the fell apart. i wound only by a d5 pump anything els is a wast of money.
