I bought a couple of items, and while that order was on its way to me, the price of both items went down. I contacted support for the price difference, because it literally changed a day after order, and they told me they can't do anything. But I know they used to do it

Now I have to refuse the order, then they ship it back to Amazon and I'll need to re-order everything

I really don't understand this policy, because just shipping it back probably cost the same

Happened to me last month. IIRC, Amazon changed their price guarantee policy sometime in June 2021 to no longer offer this policy anymore. Kinda stupid if you ask me but what can you do...

It's annoying... I wonder if customers can do something. Amazon was all about customer service.

I'm telling you in the last couple of days, the support is garbage, rude answers, not patient, and just want to get rid of you

Yeah I don't get why they changed it when you can just return the product(s) and reorder them at the lower price. Perhaps this will flag your account in the future though for excessively returning items for costs.

Maybe this is pandemic-induced for poor customer service? I haven't contacted Amazon for CS since Nov.2020.

It feels like they're heading to a new policy completely. Maybe their capitalist masterminds calculated that wasting customers time and frustrate them is worth a few million dollars per year

Yea the flagging could also be part of this new policy.

I wonder if Americans(Because I assume their largest audience is US) are sensitive to such behavior and they'll somehow protest to overturn this...

It's just a strange policy to implement on their customers. This is probably because Jeff Bezos left.

Disappointment, they even disabled the option to send email to customer support, so I can't send them a letter about it.

Now I don't live in the US so I probably don't have much to do, but I hope the American customers will start contacting customer support regarding this BS and not let them do that

This is slowly happening, once the large corporation gained enough power, it start doing whatever it wants

Americans are sleeping

Amazon built itself around the "best customer service" moto, and now that they are the strongest in the market, they can abuse their customers.

I'm an Amazon customer since 2012, and this is the lowest of lows they've ever reached in my experience.

This doesn't seem too much, but this is a big deal when they star abusing the customers

Where do you think is a large enough platform to also post this and maybe raise more awareness? Maybe it will move things

I had 50$ credit which I used on the order with the mistake

I was promised that if I return the items, they will return the coupon even though it's normally non-refundable, but because of the mistake that happened, they will return it as a favor

Now that I contacted them to get it back because I returned the items, they said we're sorry it's non-refundable

some BS is going on there. Doesn't feel like Amazon customer service

Yes, it's not typical Amazon CS, but it's all within rules and COU. IIRC, Amazon stopped officially price matching in 2016, and might be taking a harder stance on it now.

Yes but one agent promised, I would not have returned it if I knew the service started lying to people

Here is the explanation of the policy change:

https://www.groovypost.com/howto/request-amazon-price-change-refund/

I still don't understand why they prefer people to use the free return option or refuse option to send the item back and then re-ordering it

I guess most people don't care about this little amount of money, but when it's some big order like I did with some expensive PC parts then it accumulates...

On another note: The items I returned are probably still in the post office and I can get them back before they are shipped back to Amazon, the items are Ryzen 5 5600x, Crucial 32GB 3200Mhz RAM (On a separate order but on the same day), and the mistaken MSI B550 Tomahawk motherboard that I ordered instead of the MSI B550 Edge Wifi (Because I wanted Wifi).

Should I just keep the Tomahawk and build a pc without wifi? I mostly use cable, I just wanted to have the Wifi option and that's what started this mess

Also, I contacted some manager in the customer service and he promised me again that I WILL get my coupon back, although I'm not sure anymore..

They might have thought they could still. Typically the CS reps you'll talk to are the lowest paid and least trained of the staffing. If you want to hold them to that word, keep transcripts in the future. Amazon will email you the chat transcript right?

They've been doing this for years to attract customers and make them feel safe when they buy on Amazon...

Also I understand if they refuse to do it a week after, a month after, but the price changed on the same day it was shipped! So that's ridiculous to fight the customer for about 10$. They were built upon customers' happiness. Now they know they control the market so they can stop give any sh** about you

The entire chat system changed, I didn't find an option to save transcript. All the history is saved in the chat. Whenever you open a new chat you can scroll up to see previous chats. I specifically asked the last one to send me the transcript and he did

next thing would probably be something related to free returns, they will also limit these

This probably didn't help. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. At the end of the day, that's a person on the other side of that conversation that has probably been payed very little to deal with that all day. You can't really blame them for not giving you good service and saying what they needed to get you off their back. If you're nice to them you'd probably get a lot farther.

Especially if you gave them different reasons for wanting the return and partial refund. I recently made an order on eBay. Two orders from the same person on the same day. One was 7x games and the other was 5x games for a different console. They mistakenly sent the 7x and then duplicates of 5 of the first 7 games. I messaged them and let them know. Want to know what they did? They sent me a prepaid shipping label and the other 5 games. I was leaving for work the next morning so my friend whose house I park my truck at while I'm at work was supposed to drop the return off in the mail. He forgot. Once he found out what it was and why, he offered to buy them off me for what I paid. I messaged the seller offering to pay for those 5 games so he could just buy them off me. They offered me a $10 refund and the option to keep the games.

Yes this is eBay and not Amazon, but treat people well and you'll get it back. Speaking of which I need to message them and tell them not to send me $10 back.
