RX 6600 XT running on PCIe gen 3

I own a i5 9600k and use it on a Asus Z390 motherboard, that we all know has PCIe gen 3, and i am using a gtx 1660 super right now, and was thinking about getting a RX 6600 XT, but i have heard from a friend that it will run slower than in many tests he has seen, because it only runs with pcie 8x and not 16x lanes that most graphicscards do today, if i run it on my asus motherboard, i hope that i wont have to upgarde my CPU and motherboard to fully be able to use a RX 6600 XT.

 

so is that true that i will loose alot of performance if i used it on my motherboard???

what? your motherboard has pcie 3.0 x16, so it will run at 16 lanes. you wont lose any performance what so ever

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

You will, depend on games. Some pretty significant but most is negligible.

Well, Hardware Unboxed compared the 6600 XT against the RTX 3060 Ti because of pricing, but here in my neck of the woods (and I'm sure in other countries as well) the RTX 3060 is price a fair bit higher than the RX 6600 XT. So, I guess it boils down to what the actual selling price is in your neck of the woods.
