Will my existing monitor arms work for my new monitor?

NickTheMajin

Currently using a monitor arm designed for two 27s and would like to use it for a 38 and a 27. Would like to use this for my 38 (38gl950) and one of the 27s (2716dgr) Concerned about the 38 being too big for it even though it doesn’t seem that much heavier.

It'll probably support the weight as the arm appears to be rated for 17.6 lbs for each monitor and the 38GL950 is 16.8 lbs according to LG... But what you'll most likely run into an issue where both monitors are overlapping each other. And what I mean is the arm might not stretch out long enough for you to position both monitors side by side comfortably since the 38BL950 is an ultrawide. Which then brings me to stability. If you're going to be stretching the arm to it's maximum length, it's going to wobble like crazy and it's maximum supported weight might take a hit in the process.

Weight seems to be okay as the manufacturer claims up to 17.6lbs in each arm and the monitor weighs 16.8, the issue would be the placement, you likely wouldn't be able to put them side by side, only one on top of the other, but I'm not sure if the stand is able to do this, you might need to keep the 27" monitor vertical to make it work so it will fit by the side of the ultrawide.
