It seems that 3090 is drained in supply and replaced by 3080Ti.

I am keeping monitoring the top end GPU market situation since I am planning to build a new PC. But I found a interesting situation recently. The supply of 3090 is reduced significantly and there is a trend that 3080 Ti is replacing its market position.

Previously, there are always some 3090s in the Newegg Shuffle and I was also able to win a chance to get one but I gave up. Then recently, there is no 3090 in the Newegg shuffle events and the top end selections are all 3080 Tis. Furthermore, I also signed up for the EVGA queue for hydro copper 3090s and it seems there is no incoming cards in the past 2-3 weeks since the queue of 3090 hydro coppers (FTW or Kingpin) never moves. I also remember J2Cents briefly mentioned in one of his videos that he heard of some rumors that NV was planning to reduce the supply of 3090 and market 3080 Ti as the top end gaming cards.

The Discord I'm in saw 23 drops of 3090s yesterday. Spread between EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte and Zotac.

June 2nd had 2 drops of 3090s. June 1 had 7. 4 on May 31 and 1 on May 30. 

 

They're more common than they were before the TI dropped?

I'm just sitting here waiting for the AMD drop so I'm not spending a gazillion dollars on a 6700 or 6800XT

I got a MSI 3090 last week. It was an auto notify from 2020. 

Most of my auto notifies were for 3090s since the 3080 ti did not exist back then.

After all I would expect more people to buy the 3080TI than the 3090, so if Nvidia is doing this intentionally it could be a smart business move on their part.
