3080 Ti arrived, pc won't eve start. 750w too low?

So.. Pc won't start.

 

Any recommendations for a 850 or 1000w powersupply? As its weekend now.. Im kinda boned..

I wouldn't expect the PC not to start with that PSU, but I would expect shutdowns while gaming. The Corsair RM 850X is a great PSU if you do need to get one.

Assuming you just want one to diagnose whether it's actually because your PSU isn't enough, I have the Corsair RM850x and it's a pretty good/reliable unit in my experience, though reasonably I'd be comfortable with any Tier A unit on the Tier List.

i don't see a reason why the system wouldnt boot with a 750W unit

do you have a friend you could borrow a 850w psu from to test?

The led on the b350-f Is glowing red, orange then stops at white.. Trying to find out if that's the graphics card or the psu not wanting to boot.

850 seems to be the recommendation but this time I think I want not to trip the wire or something so I'm good for future use.

your pc wil start with even that psu. 

 

whtie led is usually VGA.

 

is your monitor plugged in to the gpu and not in to the motherboard?

 

can you try different pci e slot?

have you plugged in a seperate cable for each 8pin? so not daisychaining?

If you're gonna be using a 3080Ti, you will want to have an 850w PSU anyway, but it really does sound like you got a DOA graphics card. Maybe try reseating the card, changing slot on your motherboard, and changing the PSU cables connecting it. There is no reason I can think of you can't make it to BIOS with a slightly less than ideal PSU. I would start looking in to how to RMA your particular card though if none of those work.

 I would go with 1000 watts since we don't know if high end GPUs next gen or later will require even more power.

 

Also switch the computer off at the PSU to reset it. It may start.

My EVGA FTW3 Ultras did not like 850 watt PSUs and sometimes did not start unless I did that.  That is how I ended up with all 1000 watt plus PSUs.

No, tried daisy then seperate. Didn't work.

Second pcie no space.

I assume the red pcie cable is not for gpu and for CPU so I tried a different one but it still doesn't boot. Red, orange the white led light.. No luck.

The card did eventually turn its rgb on.. And my ram sticks light.. But it doesn't start up..

It should, that's a very well rated power supply. I'm still saying it's more likely the card than the PSU.

Rm1000x isn't here, probably going for hx 1000

 

I'm kinda defeated now so I'm not gonna take all of it out, I'm juet gonna get a 1000w and pray it starts..

Brother is trying another pcie cable from another powersupply.. So basicly we now have 750w 2x from it and 1x pcie cable from his 550w powersupply..

 

Hoping it works last time or I'm hitting the bunk.. Im so done.

The cable is compatible right? not all PSU cables are compatible among all PSUs. You could fry the GPU if it's not already dead if you do this.

Not having enough power is not going to cause the PC to not boot up.

 

The problem is you're using an incompatible PCIe cable from a different brand PSU on your graphics card.  You're causing a short.  

 

You can't use a Thermaltake PCIe cable with a Corsair PSU.

Well if there is one person who is an authority on PSU's, jonnyGURU is it.

 

 

Anyway, I use a Corsair SF750 PSU with my PBO enabled 5800x/3090FE build and play games maxed out at 3440x1440 just fine. 

 

Granted, its an FE card at stock so if you're 3080Ti is an FE, you'll be fine assuming its a good PSU.
