Stream movies from my PC to my phone

I have a lot of movies on my PC but I would like to watch them on my phone in bed. Is there a way to stream them from my PC to my phone if they're on the same network?

Photographer, future counselor, computer teacher.

3600X and RTX 2070 with too many storage drives to count.

Depends on what type of phone your have. 

 

I know that Samsung's have Smart View which I think could do that.

I have a S21 so that should work

Awesome!

 

I have used it myself to mirror my phone to a TV. There is an option to go the other way but not sure how it works so might just want to Google it.

Plex is what you need. Great video manager/server.

You could also just share the folder where you save your movies and use an app like CX File explorer (free) to stream, works for me.

Something like Plex would be optimal. But you could also setup UPnP server with VLC for example and then use your phone as client. Though apps for that are paid only.
