Is it safe?

This may seem like a stupid question, but I am leaving for a trip, and I wanted to know if it is ok to leave my computer off for the entire time - two months. I am just wondering because I don't want to worry about coming home to a broken computer.

There is no reason to leave it on. Turn it off (unplug it) just in case of some freak electrical storm or something, and also save a tiny bit on your power bill.

if you are worried, make sure its unplugged an on something non conductave, just incase you house is hit by lightning or somehting

Why would it be unsafe? Yes. Turn it off and unplug it.

Yes, it's fine. There's zero reason it wouldn't be fine when turned off.

Unplug it from the wall and cover case (and other things) with something to prevent dust from falling in.

I always unplug before going away, all electronics in the house except fridge and freezer if I am leaving food in them. 
 

It’s nice to know that there is 0% chance I left anything on while away…

It's a simple electronic device.  You turn off your oven, TV, lamps, stereos, cars, etc.

 

But better to ask than worry

The worst thing that could happen is your CR2032 battery on the motherboard getting discharged completely.  It shouldn't happen, normally they last at least 6 months or more without any external power.

If the battery goes bad, you can simply replace it, they're cheap, in retail you can probably buy 3 for a dollar or something like that.

 

Otherwise, you should only unplug the computer completely if you go away for more than around 2 weeks or if you live in an area with lots of lightning strikes or unstable electricity and you're not comfortable leaving something plugged in when nobody's in the house.

When i leave for longer periods of time i turn off and unplug all electrical devices i can and where it makes sense. It saves you a few $ and you're prepared in case a heavy storm hits that could damage electronics.
